Description
A vulture glides through a combination of morning fog and wildfire smoke on the north rim of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona.
This was from a trip I took called Edward Abbey in the Southwest. We explored parts of the Southwest related to Abbey and his writings.
On this morning I hiked out on a long ridge that stretched out into the canyon for an amazing view in all directions. I hung out there naked all day reading Abbey and enjoying that amazing place.
I was stalked by vultures, like the one in the picture, and small birds played around me, zipping by my head at amazing speeds.
I think the misty/cloudy stuff was fog from a heat difference below the rim in the morning, combined with smoke from a fire in the forests near the rim. They were either prescibed burns or wildfires being controlled.
