A sea stack at Stockton Island, Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Wisconsin.

This was from a kayak trip that I co-led a few years ago. We were exploring the sea caves on Stockton Island and the one behind me when I took this picture was huge and even had a little beach inside of it. So we parked our k'yaks and walked around in the shallow water where I saw these awesome refracted light patterns and the sea stack in the background. It's the same sea stack and location as in my photo...

...I'm just outside of the sea cave in this photo.

If you're a sea kayaker and haven't been to the Apostle Islands, they are amazing and I highly recommend it. If you've never kayaked, or if you're from the Midwest and think there aren't any good places to kayak, check out the Apostle Islands. It's like Caribbean Islands in the Midwest, with beautiful forests and the largest lake in the world.

Wow, amazing...I'd love to jump in that water myself.

I like the positioning; the sky and that distant island make excellent contrast for the water. The perspective really draws me in, it covers a great range - the water looks really close, then suddenly expands outward to the greater lake beyond.
